Polydicyclopentadiene (PDCPD) is a polymer material which is formed through ring-opening metathesis polymerization [2] (ROMP) of dicyclopentadiene (DCPD). PDCPD exhibits high crosslinking, which grants its properties, such as high impact resistance, good chemical corrosion resistance, and high heat deflection temperature.
With the emergence of the Internet, the capability of MDBs increased. Web-enabled MDBs provide a more centralized management and conservation of Materials data. Finding and accessing the required data is faster than to search for them in a traditional manner, e.g. from handbooks or Microsoft Excel files.
Young's modulus is the slope of the linear part of the stress–strain curve for a material under tension or compression. Young's modulus (or Young modulus) is a mechanical property of solid materials that measures the tensile or compressive stiffness when the force is applied lengthwise.
Gore-Tex is a brand of expanded PTFE (ePTFE), a material incorporating a fluoropolymer membrane with micropores. The roof of the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, US, was one of the largest applications of PTFE coatings. 20 acres (81,000 m 2) of the material was used in the creation of the white double-layered PTFE-coated fiberglass ...
Elastic properties describe the reversible deformation (elastic response) of a material to an applied stress. They are a subset of the material properties that provide a quantitative description of the characteristics of a material, like its strength. Material properties are most often characterized by a set of numerical parameters called moduli.
Typically, after welding, the properties near the weld are those of 6061-T4, a loss of strength of around 40%. The material can be re-heat-treated to restore near -T6 temper for the whole piece. After welding, the material can naturally age and restore some of its strength as well. Most strength is recovered in the first few days to a few weeks.
The mechanical properties of 7075 depend greatly on the tempering of the material. [7] Aluminum 7075 has a low formability at low room temperature and is vulnerable to stress corrosion cracking. Using different elevated temperature forming techniques has been shown to reduce springback and fracture. [8]
While mechanical properties are a function of the heat treatment condition of the alloy and can vary based upon properties, typical property ranges for well-processed Ti-6Al-4V are shown below. [ 9 ] [ 10 ] [ 11 ] Aluminum stabilizes the alpha phase, while vanadium stabilizes the beta phase.
