Franklin County is a county in Arkansas.As of the 2020 census, the population was 17,097. [1] The county has two county seats, Charleston and Ozark. [2] The county was formed on December 19, 1837, and named for Benjamin Franklin, [3] American statesman.
Hendrix College has its own radio station. Highway 215 (AR 215, Ark. 215, and Hwy. 215) is a designation for three north–south state highways in northwest Arkansas. A southern route of 8.80 miles (14.16 km) runs north from Franklin County Road 31 and Franklin County Road 221 (CR 31/CR 221) at Dahoma to Highway 96 near the Arkansas River. [2]
Highway 179 (AR 179, Ark. 179, and Hwy. 179) is a north–south state highway in Franklin County, Arkansas. Since 1998, the state highway designation has run from a county road intersection at the unincorporated community of Greenwood to US Highway 64 (US 64) in Altus. The highway is maintained by the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT).
Highway 96 was created during the 1926 Arkansas state highway numbering as a connector route between State Road 10 in Greenwood and State Road 22 west of Charleston. [ 1 ] The segment in Ozark was known as Highway 309 until September 25, 1991, when the route was redesignated as Highway 96 due to confusion with another nearby segment of Highway 309.
