In early 2012 Thorpe St Andrew scored well in the Department for Education school league tables. For 2011, 69% of students achieved 5 or more A*-C grades at GCSE (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics, slightly lower than in 2010 (71%) but higher than both 2009 (67%) and 2008 (64%).

Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form is a specialist maths and science sixth form [2] with free school status located in Norwich, owned by the Inspiration Trust. It has the capacity for 480 students aged 16–19. It specialises in mathematics and science.
The school has an admission number of 180 students per year between Years 7 and 11, and a smaller sixth form. There is an extended school day, with optional sessions running until 5.30pm three days a week for students to complete homework on site. [ 6 ]
Norwich was laid out in 1827, and named after Norwich, in England, the native home of a first settler. [4] A post office has been in operation at Norwich since 1828. [5] By 1833, Norwich had four stores, two churches, and two taverns. [6] The village was incorporated in 1833. [4]
The school is divided into 4 blocks: North (English, Geography, I.T), South (Sciences, Music, Drama), Middle (Maths, Languages, RE, DT) and, from 2013, East (Art, History). There is also a relatively small social sciences block, used exclusively by the sixth form. Neighbouring Wymondham Leisure Centre is used for its physical education facilities.

The Yare Boat Club is situated on Thorpe Island, opposite the Rivergarden, and offers rowing on the River Yare.
