Obviously the exmark will be a much larger mower than what the 757 would have been, but so long that exmark is in good shape, you really shouldn't have may problems out of it. John Deere/Stihl.
John Deere Z-trak hydro oil change. I am in the first off-season with my JD 717A. I am planning to change the hydro oil in the transmission, but am confused. The Operator's Manual says to use "JD Plus 50 15W-40 synthetic blend. I wondered if Mobil 1 15W-40 synthetic is really what is needed (I use 1 qt of Mobil 1 for my Exmark Viking w/b).
John Deere 757 not charging electrical. 2006 Kaw 25 hp FH721D engine. Just replaced stator, voltage regulator, and coils (they looked bad). Alt light still on. Alt light used to turn on only when clutch was engaged. Now its on whenever its running. I think it was off because the battery was brand new. If I run it for 2 minutes the stator leads ...
1. Use old head with new parts $200ish. 2. Use new head with new parts $300ish. 3. Use new head with new part and a suggested new shroud (that is a fix Kawasaki added later) $400ish. I am really mad that Kawasaki doesn't give out this cover for free. They are the ones with the bad design. Sounds like a recall item.
Under all conditions. The hydro control lever kill switch is to make sure the hydro levers are not engaged with the parking brake on, or the seat empty. If the seat is occupied (seat switch on) and the brake is off (brake switch off), I should be able to drive the mower. Nope. The Engine dies when either lever is moved in and hits those kill ...

The problem is that when the regulator is mounted to the heatshield (where it is suppose to be mounted) and I engage the PTO my battery light comes on. When I let the voltage regulator hang in the air and I engage the PTO ...

Was mowing a couple of days ago and the pto clutch disengaged on its own while mowing. The mower still was running fine and I stopped to see it possibly the belt had snapped or what had happened.
I ran the same belts on my Deere 757 ZTrak for nearly 15 years, before the mower deck belt started delaminating. I went ahead and replaced all of the belts, and then maybe 1 year later the new mule drive belt that runs from PTO down to deck just snapped. Clean snap, straight across is cross-section, no peeling, delamination, or signs of stress.
My JD ZTrak 757 Repowering Experience. Just and FYI to hopefully help someone else going through something similar. Bought a used JD 757 3 years ago. Back then it had a rebuilt engine and new hydraulics. I use for residential only. Put 30 hours on it in 3 years. Its a beast on my yard.
