Denis Thomas O'Connor CSB (26 February 1841 – 30 June 1911) was a Canadian prelate of the Catholic Church.The first member of the Congregation of St. Basil to become a bishop, he served as Bishop of London (1890-1899) and later as the first Canadian-born Archbishop of Toronto (1899-1908).
He served as Bishop of London, Ontario until 1889, when he was translated to the see of Toronto. Having paid off the diocese's considerable debt, Walsh the undertook the construction of St. Peter's Cathedral, designed by Joseph Connolly [3] In August 1889 Bishop Walsh was appointed Archbishop of Toronto, and installed on 27 Nov 1889.
Lacey was born in the Greater Toronto Area and attended St. Helen's Separate School and St. Michael's College before entering St. Augustine's Seminary in 1936, aged 19. He was ordained on May 23, 1943 in St. Michael's Cathedral by Archbishop James C. McGuigan. [1]
