Tanah Sareal is one of the six administrative districts (kecamatan) in the city of Bogor, West Java Province, Indonesia. The district covers an area of 21.25 km 2 , and had a population of 190,919 at the 2010 Census [ 2 ] and 218,094 at the 2020 Census; [ 3 ] the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 231,040. [ 1 ]

The district covers an area of 31.16 km 2, and had a population of 181,392 at the 2010 Census [2] and 204,030 at the 2020 Census; [3] the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 219,309. [1] Administratively it is divided into sixteen villages (kelurahan).
The river may be named after Prince Tubagus Angke, from the Banten Sultanate, who was the ruler of Jayakarta in the 16th century. Another theory is that the name refers to the 1740 Batavia massacre in which 10,000 ethnic Chinese residents of the city were massacred by the Dutch East India Company with many bodies dumped in the river.
