Pulaski County's earliest settlers were the Quapaw, Missouria and Osage Native Americans. After the Lewis and Clark Expedition of the early 19th century, white settlers came to the area, many from Kentucky, Tennessee and the Carolinas; the earliest pioneers appeared to have settled as early as 1818, and the town of Waynesville was designated the county seat by the Missouri Legislature in 1833.
The Waynesville R-VI Reorganized School District (also known as the Waynesville R-VI School District) is a school district in the Missouri Ozarks and the largest school district in Pulaski County. Laquey (pronounced "Lake-way") is an unincorporated community in Pulaski County, Missouri, United States. [1] It has Zip Code: 65534 and Area Code: 573. The community is on Missouri Route P approximately one mile south of I-44. It is about seven miles southwest of Waynesville and five miles west of the northwest corner of Fort Leonard Wood.
