Jaiprakash Associates Limited, commonly known as Jaypee Group, is an Indian conglomerate headquartered in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with interests in engineering, construction, power, real estate, hospitality, IT, sports and education (non-profit).
Jaypee University of Information Technology was conceived by a joint vision of the Government of Himachal Pradesh and Jaiprakash Gaur, founder of Jaypee Group, in the year 2000. Government of Himachal Pradesh provided land on lease for the establishment of the university.
The institute was founded in 2001 by Jaypee Group and commenced its operation in the start of academic year in July 2001. Initially it was affiliated to the state university Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat and started offering only diploma courses.
