Deliverance is the sixth studio album by Swedish progressive metal band Opeth.It was released on 12 November 2002. It was recorded between 22 July and 4 September 2002, at the same time as Damnation, which was released five months after this album.
After promoting the album, Opeth entered the studio again, recording two albums. The first album, Deliverance that was released in 2002, debuted at number 19 on the Top Heatseekers in the United States. [6] The second album, Damnation was released a year later, and peaked at number 192 on the Billboard 200.
Although Åkerfeldt believed the band could not finish both albums, Opeth completed Deliverance and Damnation in just seven weeks of studio time, which was the same amount spent on Blackwater Park alone. [27] Damnation was released on 14 April 2003, and garnered the band its first appearance on the US Billboard 200 at number 192. [29]
