Evansville was first settled in the 1830s by New Englanders who were attracted to the area by its pristine wooded landscape and the placid Allen Creek. Janis Ringhand (born February 13, 1950) is a member of the Wisconsin State Senate from Evansville, Wisconsin. An accountant and former director of a non-profit, she previously served in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Ringhand graduated from Madison Area Technical College in 1985, and served as the mayor of Evansville from 2002 to 2006.
