The Kansas Crossing Casino + Hotel is a casino and hotel in Pittsburg, Kansas. Owned by Equity Ventures, JNB Gaming, and Laham Development, the property is operated by JNB Gaming and was built for US$80 million. [1] Opened in 2017, it is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and U.S. Highway 400.
The casino and resort opened in 1998 [2] as the first full-service casino in the state of Kansas. When it opened on January 12, 1998, the entertainment complex was 63,000 square-feet. [ 3 ] As of 2000, a billboard on U.S. Highway 75 traveling north from Topeka read "Harrah's Prairie Band Casino, 12 miles."
The first phase of opening was slated for a June 2009 date; however, this was later slated to sometime later in the year. [23] In addition, the Cordish Corporation threatened to end their partnership due to a local Kansas City proposed law banning indoor smoking, but they later backtracked the threat; [24] the city later gave exemptions to the casino for smoking. The casino opened on June 22, 1994 as the Argosy V, Kansas City's first riverboat casino. [1] In 1996, a land-based pavilion was built that included restaurants, bars, and a parking garage. In 2003, the casino was renovated and in 2005 a hotel was added to the property. [2]
