The school closed after Kingsway Regional High School opened in September 1963. Designed to accommodate an enrollment of 1,000 and constructed at a cost of $1.75 million, the school opened in for students in grades 7-12, including students in grades 9-12 who had previously attended Swedesboro High School. The school was constructed in 1923 at a cost of $233,000 (equivalent to $4.2 million in 2023), and was described by the county superintendent as the "costliest school in the county". [ 1 ]

Previously a community school administered by Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council, Wallasey School converted to academy status in February 2015. However the school had already been renamed The Kingsway Academy in September 2014. On 3 July 2017 it was confirmed by the school that it would close down in August 2018. [3]
In 1959, Tatham also founded Kingsway Academy, a Christian school in Nassau, Bahamas. [8] In 1970, he was a founding board member of another Christian school; The King's Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida. [9] He planted nine Open Brethren churches throughout Canada and the United States. [10]
