Patrick O'Malley started the arcade as a personal collection of games in his parents' garage when he was still a teenager in Maple Park. But then he moved the games into a commercial retail space across town when he acquired the recently defunct Star Worlds chain of arcades (formerly located in Geneva, Illinois, and West Chicago, Illinois) from Tom Sofranski of Gerault Amusements. It was established through consolidation of existing school districts on July 1, 1948. The area of the district is 140 square miles (360 km 2) and has all or portions of Maple Park, Aurora, Cortland, Elburn, Kaneville, Montgomery, North Aurora, Sugar Grove, and Virgil. [2]
As of the 2020 census [2] there were 440 people, 207 households, and 98 families residing in the township. The population density was 12.55 inhabitants per square mile (4.85/km 2).
Police responded to Maple Boulevard, near Maple Park, around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to a KCPD spokesperson. Two men were pronounced dead on the scene with gunshot wounds.
