The 2023 IIHF Women's World Championship was the 22nd edition of the IIHF World Women's Championship, an international ice hockey tournament organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), contested in Brampton, Canada from 5 to 16 April 2023 at the CAA Centre. [1] [2] [3] [4]
The 2023 Women's World Ice Hockey Championships were the 25th such series of tournaments organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Teams participated at several levels of competition. [1] These tournaments also served as qualifications for the 2024 competition. [2]
The women's tournament began as an eight-team tournament featuring Canada, the US, the top five from the 1989 European Championships, and one Asian qualifier.The same formula was used for 1992, 1994, and 1997, but changed following the first Olympic women's ice hockey tournament at the 1998 Nagano Olympics.
