Shin-Iwakuni Station (新岩国駅, Shin-Iwakuni-eki, lit. "New Iwakuni Station") is a railway station on the high-speed Sanyo Shinkansen line in Iwakuni, Yamaguchi , Japan, operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR West).

Iwakuni (岩国市, Iwakuni-shi) is a city located in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 June 2023, the city had an estimated population of 127,512 in 65182 households and a population density of 157 persons per km 2. [1] The total area of the city is 873.72 square kilometres (337.35 sq mi).
The station opened on 15 April 1929, initially named Iwakuni Station. [2] It was renamed Nishi-Iwakuni in 1942, and at the same time, the original Marifu Station was renamed Iwakuni Station. [2] With the privatization of the Japan National Railway (JNR) on 1 April 1987, the station came under the aegis of the West Japan railway Company (JR West).
Minami-Iwakuni Station (南岩国駅, Minami-Iwakuni-eki) is a passenger railway station located in the city of Iwakuni, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by the West Japan Railway Company (JR West).
Kawanishi Station is served by the JR West Gantoku Line, and is located 5.6 kilometers from the terminus of the line at Iwakuni.It is also the nominal terminus of the 32.7 kilometer Nishikigawa Seiryū Line from Nishikichō, although all trains continue past Kawanishi Station on the Gantoku Line tracks to terminate at Iwakuni.
