Malgudi Days is a collection of short stories by R. K. Narayan published in 1943 by Indian Thought Publications. [1] The book was republished outside India in 1982 by Penguin Classics. [2] The book includes 32 stories, all set in the fictional town of Malgudi, [3] located in South India. Each of the stories portrays a facet of life in Malgudi. [4]
"The Tomb" is a short story by American writer H. P. Lovecraft, written in June 1917 and first published in the March 1922 issue of The Vagrant. [1] It tells the story of Jervas Dudley, who becomes obsessed with a mausoleum near his childhood home.

Theunis tells a story about a shadow or dark force which was repelled by an Egyptian priest, Ka-Nefer, during the Year of the Black Goat. He used a peculiar amber gem to divert the dark entity. Afterwards, Theunis uses a camera obscura , and a similar gem in his possession, to examine the photos taken earlier.
An H. P. Lovecraft Encyclopedia describes this story as "manifestly racist." [4] According to Daniel Harms, author of The Encyclopedia Cthulhiana, "If someone came up to me and said, 'Hey Daniel, I think H. P. Lovecraft was a wordy, overly-sentimental bigot whose stories don't make much sense,' this would be the last story I would hand to him to convince him otherwise."
