Sella group Maratona dles Dolomites. The Sellaronda is the ski circuit around the Sella group in the Dolomites mountains of Northern Italy.. The Sella massif lies between the four Ladin valleys of Badia, Gardena, Fascia, and Fodom and is divided between the provinces of South Tyrol, Trentino and Belluno in the regions of Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto.
This was a celebration of the first ten years of the cycling club Societá Ciclistica Alta Badia-Raiffeisen. The route was unique and snaked through seven Dolomite passes: Gardena, Sella, Fedaia, Duran, Forcella Staulanza, Falzarego and Valparola over 175 kilometres (109 mi). [6] It started and ended in Pedraces. There were 166 participants.
The Sella Pass (German: Sellajoch; Ladin: Jëuf de Sela or Jouf de Sela; Italian: Passo Sella) (2218 m) is a high mountain pass between the provinces of Trentino and South Tyrol in Italy. It connects the Val Gherdëina in South Tyrol and Canazei in the Fascia Valley in Trentino.
The road over it comprises part of the famous Sella Ring, in which four linked passes (Gardena, Sella, Pordoi, and Campolongo) encircle the spectacular Sella group. The pass has 19 unnumbered hairpin bends. [1] The route becomes busy with tourists, motorcyclists, and cyclists during the summer.
The plateau of the Sella Group is characterized by a tundra climate with average temperatures above 0 °C only during the summer months. Average data at the weather station on Piz Pisciadù at 2,985 m (9,793 ft) measured between 2004 and 2020 shows that the average temperature in summer lies around +3 °C and +5 °C, while in winter it ranges between -8 and -10 °C.
