The new elementary school building was erected by V.K. Powell Construction of Wapato, Washington at a cost of $3.23 million. The building was financed by $500,000 in School District funds, $1 million in insurance payments, and $2 million from the state of Washington. Planning for Sunnyside Christian High School began in 1942, leading to the school's first class in 1947.
