The Huarón Mining District is one of the richest polymetallic (Zn-Pb-Ag-Cu-(Au)) deposit clusters in Peru. It is located 20 km SSW of Cerro de Pasco, in the Huayllay District, Pasco Province, Pasco Department, between 4500 and 4700 m.a.s.l. The Huarón Mining District belongs to the Miocene polymetallic belt of the Central Andes.
Alabandite forms in epithermal polymetallic sulfide veins and low-temperature manganese deposits. It occurs with acanthite, calcite, chalcopyrite, galena, pyrite, quartz, rhodochrosite, rhodonite, sphalerite and native tellurium.

[1] Its chemical formula is (Ca,Mn)CO 3.It was first reported from the Banská Štiavnica Mining District, Slovak Republic, [1] but is widely distributed around the world, notably in the Cave of Swords at Naica, Chihuahua, Mexico as well as in Bulgaria.
