So if you hang a 14' pole, on these points, measure with and without weight, and the difference between these is 20.5, then the pole is a 14' 150, because it falls in the range of 21.0-20.0. Now, this is a bit simplistic, but the concept is solid. The stiffer the pole, the less bend with the weight, the lower the flex number, and stiffer the ...
Using ESSX poles will allow a better progression from pole to pole smoothly.2. Now that one starts to bend the pole it is a bending one can build a technique with.3. While it is true that one could have a low take-off, you instantly know with an Essx pole, as it will not return to vertically as a smooth transition.4.
Skypole - s glass - sail has a lower center to give a stiffer lower section and softer handle - makes pole roll a little easier - (hear people talking about higher bend) Skypole Carbon - similar design/sail as Skypole except some s glass replaced with carbon which makes slightly lighter and will quicker slightly.
When we design the poles we do require a stiffer butt and all the weight we saved is used to provide a smaller grip and with our stiffer butt the pole has the feeling of a slightly heavier carry weight. As you move up in the lengths the pole will demonstrate a better carry weight however when we go head to head with Pacer carbons we can match ...
I have been playing around with them from short aproach and they have been great. I can get way back on the pole, and not worry about landing on the cross-bar all the time. Also, the Essx pole is less forgiving at takeoff than a Spirit pole. You need to have a relatively precise takeoff.
There science behind it was that the pole tip is kind of egg shaped so the edges are wider and allows for a greater angle with the pole and the bottom of the box when the pole is past verticle. I guess it is the same principle of vaulters that used to would put a towle in the vault box and say they could use bigger poles doing that.
Any way, In the 14'6" line of glass poles, I believe it is between the 185 to the 190 & 195 there is a big diff in the diameter of the pole, it's a stretch to get my hand around them. When we look at the 15' line the 190 and 195 are smaller than the 14'6" 90 & 95 And when I look at the line of poles I use 180-195 there seems to be a smaller ...

Your son is no longer a beginner - he's now becoming an intermediate. Yes, PV is an expensive sport! Besides Gill, you should also consider ESSX poles. They're based in Ft. Worth TX and are used by Sam Kendricks (currently USA's best male vaulter). According to their website, a 13-7 ESSX pole is $500, and a 14-1 pole is $525.
