Sunset Beach is an American television soap opera that aired on NBC from January 6, 1997, to December 31, 1999. The show follows the loves and lives of the people living in the Orange County coastal area named Sunset Beach, on the coast of California .
In December 1998, a writer from Soap Opera Update previewed the soap's 1999 stories. They revealed that Caitlin harassment storyline would intensify. Meg was the show's protagonist throughout the whole run. Sydney Penny temporarily played the role while Ward was filming her role in the movie The In Crowd.

Olivia was featured in a high-profile storyline in which an earthquake and tsunami occur in Sunset Beach. The storyline was created in a bid to gain ratings. [3] In the storyline Olivia becomes trapped underneath her mansion home. Down agreed to do some stunts herself and was placed in a makeshift set of rubble and timber.
