Prasanna (born 10 February 1951), is a major Indian theatre director and playwright from Karnataka.He is one of the pioneers of modern Kannada theatre. [1] He graduated from the National School of Drama (NSD).
[3] [4] He is the recipient of various accolades, including a National Film Award, an IIFA Award, and two Filmfare Awards, as well as a nomination for an International Emmy. [5] After studying acting at the National School of Drama, Siddiqui had minor roles in films such as Sarfarosh (1999), Shool (1999), and Munna Bhai M.B.B.S (2003).
He directed several stage plays that received wide attention. He is an alumnus of the National School of Drama. [6] [7] The views expressed by him on challenges faced by theatre in India today are thought provoking [8] [9] [4] He received many awards including Karnataka State Award Rajyotsava Award in 2001. Chorus Repertory Theatre founded by Ratan Thiyam in 1976. He went on to set up a theatre group called Chorus Repertory Theatre [7] in Imphal, Manipur in 1976.He was also briefly the director of National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi (1987–88).
