i have a black Japanese '93 Robben Ford model, the last incarnation before the Fender Custom Shop versions. It does have the spruce top, alder body combo. The first things I did after getting it were to change out the schaller tuneable taipiece and bridge for a tune-o-matic and a lightweight stop tail.

The fact that PRS will accommodate a musician of Robben's stature, but who doesn't have the name recognition to sell a ton of guitars to the mainstream, to me shows they still care about the artists. On my Robben Ford PRS the knobs are 1 ¼ inches apart. On my 1963 Tele they are 1 ¾ inches apart. And on both guitars the knob placement is horizonal. In contrast, on my 2021 McCarty the knobs are 2 ½ inches apart and their placement is angled with the volume control close to the treble pickup and the tone control further away.
