And the Trek is a U.S. made bike, and the model year is about about a 1988, not a 1998. It has Suntour components, and Suntour has been out of business for decades. Replacements parts may be a problem if the brakes or shifters don't work, you would have to buy Shimano parts as replacements.
1982 Trek 710 survivor. Bikes: '80 Schwinn Voyageur 11.8, '86 Mongoose ATB, 1989 Schwinn Alum Pro 1.86 MTB, 1983 Miyata 1000, 1985 Pro Miyata, '90s Merlin, Peugeot Fixie. I can't believe I bought another bike, but I so much enjoyed recommissioning the '82 720, and absolutely love the way it rides, that the thought of a more sporty bike from the ...
The earliest Trek 1400s were made from Alcoa 6061 aluminum, later model years are constructed from Easton E9 aluminum. The weight of the earlier Trek 1400s is slightly higher than later model years. The 1997 model weighs about 21.6 lbs, and the 1990 model should be more around 23 pounds.
It’s listed for $550 which is a fair price IMO for someone wanting the whole bike. Not much demand for aluminum racers so if it doesn’t sell, I’ll offer $400 which I’ll book as $275 for the group and $125 for the wheels. I’d give away the frame for free and the leftover parts get binned or sold at bargain prices.

I guess the 750 is the one to have as it is full double butted cromoly with mid fork low rider braze ons. Several weeks ago I was.

05-05-13 09:19 PM. 1986 Trek Tri Series 700. 9 Attachment (s) So I just got my hands on a Trek Tri Series 700 for a whopping $85. It had literally been hanging in a garage for the past 25 years. It has probably been ridden a couple of hundred miles. Except for a couple of paint scratches and a missing dustcap on one pedal, it is in near new ...
I was an avid MTB and wanted to give road biking a try, so in 2000 I purchased a new Trek 1000, which as far as I could tell was the best bang for the buck entry-level performance bike. I was instantly bit by the road bike bug, and the MTB now gets out on the trails less frequently. Like yourself, I have been looking to upgrade, and weighing ...
I am 5ft 6in (167.6cm) and ride a 52cm effective top tube frame. The Competitive Cyclist website calcs say I should ride a 53-54cm effective top tube, but I am disproportionately long in the legs (81.8cm inseam) a frame one size smaller fits me well. I then installed a 110mm stem to accommodate my arms. Reply.
