Founded by group of members of Jain society, in VV Puram and now known as a part of Jain University which has established many colleges. However, SBMJC remains a prominent college. The college has five campuses spread over Bangalore and one campus in Kolar Gold Fields. The college is home to more than 8,000 students.
In 1990, Roychand started the Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College in Bangalore at VV Puram, which to date remains one of the best-known colleges in the city. Over two decades, he went on to establish schools and colleges across the country. Jain University was declared a Deemed University under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
