The Guild Hall was commissioned to replace the town's Public Hall. [1] The new building, which was designed by Robert Matthew, Johnson Marshall , was due to be ready for the Preston Guild of 1972, but after construction was delayed, it only officially opened in 1973.

The 2002 tournament was held at the Guild Hall in Preston, Lancashire between 5 and 13 October. It was the first of eight WPBSA ranking events in the 2002–2003 season and the next event following last season's World Championship , [ 2 ] which was won by Peter Ebdon . [ 3 ]
