Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust was an NHS Trust in South East Wales. The Trust was launched in April 1999 through the merger of Glan Hafren, Gwent Community Health and Nevill Hall and District NHS Trusts.
The hospital receives patients from the Royal Gwent Hospital and Nevill Hall Hospital for rehabilitation after strokes or orthopaedic surgery or for convalescence after other procedures. County hospital also houses patients awaiting placement into nursing or residential care homes.

The new hospital, which was built at a cost of £53 million and stands on the site of the former Ebbw Vale Steelworks, opened in October 2010. [ 2 ] It was the first NHS hospital to be built in England or Wales with 100% single room, ensuite facilities to help control infection and improve privacy. [ 3 ]
