British Weight Lifting (BWL) is a trading name of the British Weight Lifters' Association Ltd (BWLA), [1] [2] the National Governing Body (NGB) in the United Kingdom for the sports of weightlifting and para powerlifting. [3] The Association was initially established in 1910.
She won the gold medal in her event at the 2022 European Weightlifting Championships held in Tirana, Albania and retained her title, with a somewhat reduced lift, in 2023 in Yerevan, Armenia. [13] [14] The British Olympic Association chose Campbell as Team GB's only weightlifter at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the +81 kg category. [15]
Katrina Feklistova (born 6 April 1997) is a British Champion Olympic Weightlifter and holder of three British weightlifting records. [1] [2]Feklistova competed at the 2022 European Championships in the 76 kg category, finishing in 11th place. [3]
Murray won his first international medal when he received a bronze in the 62 Kg category at the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games held in Samoa. [6]Murray first won gold (77kg class) at the British Weight Lifting Championships in 2018, [7] and has also won in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
The British International Open 2019 (known as The Birds Eye British Championships for sponsorship reasons) [1] was an IWF bronze level weightlifting event hosted at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on the 7-9 June 2019. [2] The competition was a qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and featured 71 athletes from over 20 nations. [3]
McCoy has competed in five British Weightlifting Championships events and CrossFit championships, and became Scottish champion in both sports. She set three new Scottish records in Olympic weightlifting at the Scottish Championships in 2023, and ranked 104th out of over 23,000 participants in the 2023 CrossFit championships.
On the 5th April 2022, Cyrille was cleared by the International Weightlifting Federation to represent British Weight Lifting at international competitions and the England at the Commonwealth Games. [5] His first international competition as a British weightlifter was the 2022 European Weightlifting Championships in Tirana, Albania.
