The Liberal Democratic Party or well known as Liberal Democratic Party of Sabah (Malay: Parti Liberal Demokratik, or Parti Liberal Demokratik Sabah) (simplified Chinese: 自由民主党; traditional Chinese: 自由民主黨; abbrev: LDP, or LDP Sabah) is a Sabahan Chinese-based local political party founded in the town of Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia by Hiew Min Kong in 1989.
Malaysian Democratic Party Parti Demokratik Malaysia: MDP 1998–2008 Established by Democratic Action Party dissidents, Wee Choo Keong and Yeap Ghim Guan, the party contested the 1999 and 2004 elections but failed to win any seat. In 2008, Wee joined Parti Keadilan Rakyat and the party was dissolved.
Malaysia has had a multi-party system since the first direct election of the Federal Legislative Council of Malaya in 1955 on a first-past-the-post basis. The ruling party was the Alliance Party (Malay: Parti Perikatan) coalition and from 1973 onwards, its successor, the Barisan Nasional (National Front) coalition.
Teo Chee Kang (Chinese: 張志剛; pinyin: Zhāng Zhìgāng; Jyutping: Zoeng1 Zi3 Gong1; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Tiuⁿ Chì-kong) is a Malaysian politician from Liberal Democratic Party. He was the President of LDP from 2014 to 2018 and the Member of Sabah State Legislative Assembly for Tanjong Kapor from 2008 to 2018.
