"When Will I See You Again" is a song released in 1974 by American soul group The Three Degrees from their third album, The Three Degrees. The song was written and produced by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. Sheila Ferguson sang the lead, accompanied by Fayette Pinkney and Valerie Holiday.
"TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia)" is a 1974 recording by MFSB featuring vocals by The Three Degrees. It was written by Gamble and Huff as the theme for the American musical television program Soul Train, which specialized in African American musical performers. The single was released on the Philadelphia International Records label.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Pinkney was one of three young teenagers brought together by manager Richard Barrett to form The Three Degrees in 1963. Fayette subsequently earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Temple University and a Master's degree in human services from Lincoln University in 1984.
Since their formation in 1965 until 1969, The Three Degrees had released several hit singles on various labels, including Swan Records, Warner Bros. Records, Metromedia, and Neptune. Their first studio album, entitled Maybe was released on Roulette Records in 1970 as were several other singles on the same label.
During a UK tour in 1975, The Three Degrees performed at Bailey's in Leicester, England, and the evening's concert was recorded and subsequently released by Philadelphia International Records as The Three Degrees Live. The setlist for the concert was typical of what the group was doing at that time; a blend of pop, soul and show tunes.
