Talladega County Schools is the local school district. The Birmingham Supplementary School Inc. (BSS, バーミングハム日本語補習校 Bāminguhamu Nihongo Hoshūkō), a part-time Japanese school, has its office at the Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, LLC facility in unincorporated Talladega County, near Lincoln.
In 1869, Swayne School was issued a charter by the county and the school's named was changed to Talladega College by the Judge of Probate of Talladega County. The former Coosa Valley Baptist Academy building, now known as Swayne Hall, has remained in service as the symbol and spirit of the beginning of the college.
Talladega (/ ˌ t æ l ə ˈ d ɪ ɡ ə /, also / ˌ t æ l ə ˈ d eɪ ɡ ə /) [4] is the county seat of Talladega County, Alabama, [5] United States. It was incorporated in 1835. [6] At the 2020 census, the population was 15,861. Talladega is approximately 50 miles (80 km) east of one of the state's largest cities, Birmingham.
