The Hamilton–Turner Inn (also known as the Hamilton–Turner House and the Samuel P. Hamilton House) is a historic mansion in Savannah, Georgia, United States. Built in 1873, [1] [2] it is located at 330 Abercorn Street in the southeastern trust/civic lot of Lafayette Square. It is now a luxury inn.
Today, the Lewis Kayton House, also known as Mansion on Forsyth Park, is a 126-room Romanesque Revival-style hotel which covers 18,000 square feet (1,700 m 2). The former Kayton mansion was converted into a lounge and restaurant that includes a cooking school. The three-story hotel was built onto the mansion with the same exterior style.
Located on East Broughton Street, it is the city's oldest operating hotel today, owned by Savannah's HLC Hotels, Inc., which also owns the city's Olde Harbour Inn, the Eliza Thompson House, the East Bay Inn, the Gastonian and the Kehoe House. [2] The building was occupied by the Union Army in 1864 and 1865 during the American Civil War. [3]
