Joshua Quagmire (sometimes shortened to JQ) (1953-2024) [1] was an American cartoonist of underground and mainstream comic books, best known for his creation Cutey Bunny.His comicbook work also overlapped with and contributed to the early furry fandom of the 1981 and 91.
Cutie was introduced by Quagmire as a parody of the "Earth-Two" story concept once employed by DC Comics to explain the history of their Golden Age superheroes. Cutey Bunny made an appearance in the independently produced "Army Surplus Komikz, Featuring Cutey Bunny" series in the early 1980s. It ran for five issues between 1982 and 1985.
The initial slogan was “Decorate Your Place with a Cute Lil’ Face!”; this slogan was later changed to “Turn Any Space into a Cute Place!”.
