The Mazda 6 (Japanese: マツダ・シックス, Hepburn: Matsuda Shikkusu) (known as the Mazda Atenza in Japan, derived from the Italian attenzione) is a mid-size sedan produced by Mazda since 2002, replacing the long-produced Capella/626. [5]
Mazda had used a number of different marques in the Japan market, including Autozam, Eunos, and Efini, although they have been phased out. In the early 1990s Mazda almost created a luxury marque, Amati , to challenge Acura , Infiniti , and Lexus in North America, but this never happened, leaving the near-luxury Millenia to the Mazda brand.
The Mazda EZ-6 is a mid-size car produced by Mazda through its joint venture, Changan Mazda in China since 2024. Available with a pure battery electric powertrain or as an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV), the EZ-6 is co-developed with Changan Automobile, and uses the same EPA platform used by the Deepal L07 liftback.
In the Philippines, under Mazda's local distributor Berjaya Auto Philippines, the third generation Mazda6 sedan went on-sale by the end of 2013 as a 2014 model year. It was followed by a 5-door station wagon variant, the Mazda6 Sports Wagon in late 2014 for the 2015 model year (with a diesel engine variant later on for 2016 to 2018).
The proposal for the AZ-1 goes as far back as 1985 when Suzuki created the Suzuki RS/1 as a mid-engine sports car project for volume production. [1] Suzuki's design for the Tokyo Motor Show was a fully functional car with a front/rear weight distribution of 45:55, [3] powered by a modified 1.3-liter G13B engine borrowed from the Cultus GTi.
