TV5 Mongolia, or TV5, is a television broadcasting station in Mongolia. The station works closely with the Mongolian National Broadcaster and is financed by advertising, sponsoring, and government subsidies. The program is also available in streaming format online for a fee.
Coverage was limited to Ulaanbaatar from 2009 to 2009, after which it became a national channel; in 2013 it started broadcasting in high definition. [4] The station provides a diverse range of programming, covering topics that include historical, arts, culture, educational, entertainment, political, social, and economic news.
During the early 1960s, local radio broadcasting for Ulaanbaatar was introduced, and a second national radio channel was established. [4] Four additional longwave transmitters were opened: 1965 in the western city of Ölgii, 1978 in Altai, Dalanzadgad and Choibalsan. In 1981 the Mörön transmitter started broadcasting on mediumwave.
