Badminton England is the national governing body for the sport of badminton in England.It aims to govern, encourage and develop the sport throughout England. Originally established in 1893 as the Badminton Association of England in Portsmouth, [citation needed] the association is now based in Milton Keynes and has departments for Elite Play, Events, Membership, Development and Coaching.

The Badminton Association of England (BAE) published these rules in 1893 and officially launched the sport at a house called "Dunbar" [c] in Portsmouth on 13 September. [12] The BAE started the first badminton competition, the All England Open Badminton Championships for gentlemen's doubles, ladies' doubles, and mixed doubles, in 1899. [5]
The English National Badminton Championships is a tournament organised by the Badminton England to crown the best badminton players in England. [1] The tournament started in 1964 and is held annually. [2] The first winners were Bill Havers and Ursula Smith in 1964. [3]
The 2025 European Mixed Team Badminton Championships is held in Baku, Azerbaijan, between 12 and 16 February 2025 and organised by Badminton Europe and Azerbaijan Badminton Federation. The host location was announced in April 2024 by Badminton Europe. [1] [2] These championships also act as the European qualification event for 2025 Sudirman Cup.
Matthew Nottingham (born 17 May 1992) is a badminton player from England. He started playing badminton at age 3, and joined England national badminton team in 2009. [1] In 2011, he won gold and silver medals at the European Junior Championships in the boys' and mixed doubles events.
Huang started playing club badminton for the All Stars in Milton Keynes and won the U15 singles European gold medal. He attended the University of Nottingham. [3] Huang came to prominence in 2023, after winning the Egypt International in Cairo. [4] In 2024, he became the English singles champion.
