The Times Telegram is an American daily newspaper published in Herkimer, New York. It serves southern Herkimer County and the westernmost part of adjacent Montgomery County in the Mohawk Valley region of New York State. It was formed on August 3 2015 by the merger of The Telegram, serving Herkimer, and The Times, serving Little Falls.
The newspaper began publishing in 1916 as the Sun Journal following the merger of two older newspapers, the Sun and the Journal, in 1914. It was acquired by the New Bernian newspaper in 1923. In 1974 it was acquired by Freedom Communications, Inc.
Debuting in April 1906, it originally was published on Friday afternoons by the Wellesley Publishing Company. [1] [2] It was one of many New England newspapers acquired by the Community Newspaper Company in the late 1980s, published under The MetroWest Daily News division, later acquired by GateHouse Media.
