For starters, the Shogun is a 89’ Tedd Dunn built boat and it was made in partnership with Frank LoPreste, Tedd and Frank are considered two of the most influential names in SoCal fishing. During the Shogun’s time, there have been several captains, but it wasn’t until 2017 when Rene Monteagudo joined the ranks of the Lopreste fleet.
Booked a trip on the Shogun for 2023. This will be my first 3 day overnight trip given i'm not a huge fan of being offshore for more than a day, without getting seasick. I can handle big water but not for longer than a day trip. For some of you...

The last time I was on the Shogun (7-day early June) I was in stateroom #9 which was a little tight and noisy. It is, IMHO, all a personal choice as to which is the best. I just got back from the Let's Talk Hook Up 7 day on the Shogun. It was originally a 6 day but they extended it because of the excellent fishing at the ridge. I recall your Shogun crew days & your speaking of going Merchant Marine. Good to hear from you again! Sorry to hear of Monte. So, it looks like Tommie (Gunny) is with the Supreme while Andy, Sean & Chachi are with Bruce on the Fortune. We know Norm is "retired". That leaves Pat, Ryan (fairly new on the gun) & Randy?
Got back yesterday from a 2 day aboard the Shogun. Ended up with 14 big bluefin from 120-150lbs for 27 guys. We arrived to the zone with the fleet around 8pm on Wednesday and immediately started to look for schools. The game the entire night was drive around looking for schools, stop, drop and maybe hang a few.
Just got back from the 8-day PENN Fishing University trip aboard the Shogun. Among the stops was a two-day stint at Thetis bank, with the most intense extended surface iron bite on yellowtail this old jig tosser has ever experienced. Absolutely incredible action on whatever you wanted to try for 15-40 pound yellows, and it kept getting better.
