Only ever watch DVD movies. I do plan on getting some movies on Blu-ray that I don't have on DVD, or in some cases where the Blu-ray is a major upgrade from the DVD version, but the single most pressing concern is that the DVDs play at DVD quality and look at least as good as they did on the tube tv with the DVD player. That's really my only ...

  4. How Can I Access A Panasonic DVD RAM disc? - AVForums

    www.avforums.com/threads/how-can-i-access-a-panasonic-dvd-ram-disc.1149017

Is there a way to convert the discs into something that will play elsewhere (like a PC, Xbox, other DVD player etc.)? At the moment, my PC just spits the disc out if I even try to access it. I've heard the PowerDVD player would play them, but don't want to pay $50 unless I know it would work (and even then, a free way would be better!).

  5. Long play on DVD-R disks - AVForums

    www.avforums.com/threads/long-play-on-dvd-r-disks.185951

I have a DVD/VHS combo, and I am looking to transfer some programmes I have on tape to DVD-R disks. I wouldn't normally think about using long play etc, as if the quality is anything similar to VHS, it will be very poor. But the disks I have can only hold 2 hours, which obviously wouldn't be enough if I wanted to copy over 3 hours of programming.

The benefit of formats such as DVD + Bluray is that there are actual standards that players must adhere to (unlike the mess that is streaming devices), so any Region 2/B device (from a reputable manufacturer) would correctly output PAL DVDs at 50Hz, unless you intentionally force something different in the player settings or it has a ...

Just tried my old Xbox HD-DVD player on Windows 10... VLC VideoLan will play the video file (*.EVO) but unfortunately not the menus. Edit to add: This is a brand new PC, Win10 only installed a month ago. No codecs installed to my knowledge, no drivers, the HD-DVD player just worked (USB) and the EVOs look and sound beautiful.

AVCHD on DVD-R and BD-R will work. DVD on DVD-R will work. MP4 files burned as data BD-R will not work. Given USB flash drives massive capacity advantage over optical media, moving the mp4's off those old discs may be prudent, the PS4 and PS5 will play mp4 from USB and network sources.

  10. Camcorder (mini) DVD playback on PC - How? | AVForums

Now although I can put the mini DVD into the drive and it can recognise the files, it seems to have no luck when trying to play any of them. Even Win DVD says : "No valid Disc / Drive found" Navigating the Recordable DVD structure it shows folders such as: Main folder shown as *: *DVD_RTAV--VR_MANGR.BUP--VR_MANGR.IFO *RTR_EXTN--RX.DAT--VR_MVDUM.000

  11. DVD upscaling to 4K - AVForums

    www.avforums.com/threads/dvd-upscaling-to-4k.2262409

Thankfully, there seems to be a big difference between how a poor quality Freeview channel and a good quality DVD looks. There are a lot of factors to consider with this issue - the upscaling abilities of the player and/or TV are probably the most important, but the quality of the SD source and even viewing distance will play a big part too.
