The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT- Delhi) is a public institute of technology located in Delhi, India. It is one of the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology created to be Centre of Excellence for India's training, research and development in science, engineering and technology.
The Faculty of Engineering and Technology officially came into being in 1985. Undergraduate programmes in civil, electrical and mechanical engineering began is as old as the institution. Undergraduate programmes in electronics engineering began in 1996 and in computer engineering began in 2000. [4] The building was inaugurated in October 1995.
The Institute presently offers 4-year B.Tech courses in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering based on JEE (Advanced) rankings, 2 year MSc programme in Applied Geology and Ph.D. programmes. The curriculum of the Institute is domain specialized and in line with the needs of the industries.
