Pelican Place at Craft Farms is a 372,000-square-foot (34,600 m 2) lifestyle center in Gulf Shores, Alabama. [1] It is planned to expand to 650,000 square feet (60,000 m 2). [2] It was designed by CMH Architects of Birmingham, the firm that also designed the Eastern Shore Centre in nearby Spanish Fort.
Gulf Shores is located on the Gulf of Mexico, and is the southernmost settlement in the state of Alabama. [2] It is served by Alabama State Route 59 (Gulf Shores Parkway), which leads north to Foley. Route 182 (Beach Boulevard) runs east-west along the shore front, while Route 180 (Fort Morgan Road) runs parallel to it, north of Little Lagoon.

The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo started as the private project of Robin Willis and Joey Ward of Gulf Shores, and opened in June 1989 as Zooland Animal Park. The Ward family created the Zoo Foundation Inc. (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization) in 1991 to operate the zoo, at the same time donating the 17 acres (6.9 ha) that make up the zoo today.
