Oolong tea originated in China and was actually transliterated from two words in Mandarin, meaning "black" and "dragon". Oriental beauty, white-tip oolong, and champagne oolong are other names under which dongfang meiren is marketed in the West.
Tongding Oolong tea is a semi-oxidized tea with a hemispherical shape, created through a baking process. The tea leaves are rolled into round balls through multiple kneading and undergo post-oxidization, resulting in a more pronounced flavor profile for Oolong tea. Aged dongding tea is also a popular form of this tea.

Gunpowder tea (Chinese: 珠 茶; pinyin: zhū chá; lit. 'pearl tea'; pronounced [ʈʂú ʈʂʰǎ]) is a form of tea in which each leaf has been individually rolled into a small pellet. Its English name comes either from some resemblance of the pellets to gunpowder , or from a phrase in Chinese that phonetically resembles the word "gunpowder".
