Zebulon (/ ˈ z ɛ b j u l ə n / ZEB-yoo-luhn) [5] is the easternmost town in Wake County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 6,903 at the 2020 census. [6] Zebulon is part of the Research Triangle metropolitan region. In May 2022, Zebulon was ranked North Carolina's second fastest growing town, only behind neighboring Wendell. [7]
The town of Zebulon built a water filtration plant in 1963 and it stands near the park today. The town development plan also notes that, “Industries, too, have shared in this spreading out of cities. Modern assembly-line processes require single-story construction, and the two and three story mill of yesteryear often stands vacant today.” [8]
Wakefield is a former unincorporated community and current area within the Zebulon, North Carolina, United States town limits in extreme eastern Wake County. It is centered on Pearces Road (SR 1001) between Pippin Road (SR 2337) and Arendell Avenue , northeast of the center of Zebulon. It was annexed by Zebulon in 1997. [1]

The Five County Stadium, located near the border of Wake, Franklin, Nash, Wilson and Johnston counties, is in Zebulon. The stadium is 85% owned by Wake County and 15% by Zebulon.
Whitley Galleries was one of Zebulon's oldest business firms, [1] beginning operations in 1909 as the Zebulon Supply Company, with R.J. Whitley as the owner and president. [2] R.J.'s son, C. Vaiden Whitley [1] (going only by C.V. Whitley), later began working for his father's business in 1916, and took over as president upon his death in 1924. [3]
