Barton Hills is a village in Washtenaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan.The population was 316 at the 2020 census.The village is located within Ann Arbor Charter Township just northwest of the city of Ann Arbor.
George Noyes made the first land purchase in the area as early as 1824. The county's first school, the McCracken School, was built here in 1825. The settlement was formally named Pitt in 1831 and was named in honor of former English prime minister William Pitt. A post office named Pitt opened on January 21, 1835 but closed on September 14, 1836.
