Downtown Indiana Historic District is a national historic district located at Indiana in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. The district includes 86 contributing buildings and 1 contributing site in the central business district and surrounding residential areas of Indiana.
In 1958 Wilkins and his partner Harold O'Brien purchased Hotel Pocopaupack on the banks of Lake Wallenpaupack in Lakeville, Pennsylvania. They renamed the hotel Cove Haven and marketed it as a couples-only resort. [3] [4] [6] In 1963 Wilkins invented the heart-shaped bathtub as a way to generate more honeymoon business at the hotel.
The restored resort is a 216-room hotel with 4 suites, golf course, spa, and conference facility. The spa wing accommodates additional rooms and a full-service spa. The hotel contains a 130-seat restaurant along with a fully restored colonial-style tavern in the Stone House, with original, massive stone walls and beams dating to 1806.
The creation of the Red Caboose Motel began with the incorporation of "Red Caboose Lodge, Inc." [a] by Donald M. Denlinger on January 9, 1967. [13] Denlinger, who has been called a "tourism industry legend", also developed the Mill Bridge Village camping resort, the Fulton Steamboat Inn and the Historic Strasburg Inn.
