I Believe I Can Fly" is a song written, produced, and performed by American singer R. Kelly from the soundtrack to the 1996 film Space Jam. It was originally released on November 26, 1996, and was later included on Kelly's 1998 album R. In early 1997, "I Believe I Can Fly" reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100.
The album also includes a two covers of R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly": one studio version featuring R&B vocalist Gerald Levert, and a live solo version. Both were released as singles. The album was nominated for and won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album the following year (the second win for Adams).
An album featuring the film's score by James Newton Howard was also released. The soundtrack was released by Warner Sunset and Atlantic Records on November 12, 1996. "I Believe I Can Fly" by R. Kelly was first released on the soundtrack.
