RX J1131-1231 is a distant, supermassive-black-hole-containing quasar located about 6 billion light years from Earth in the constellation Crater. [1] [2]In 2014, astronomers found that the X-rays being emitted are coming from a region inside the accretion disk located about three times the radius of the event horizon.
It is one of the most ultraluminous infrared galaxies, with power derived from an accreting black hole in the center forming the closest known quasar. X-ray data shows the energy released from the black hole produces ultra-fast outflows with a velocity of -20,000 km s −1. [5]
RX J1131-1231 is the name of the complex, quasar, host galaxy and lensing galaxy, together. The quasar's host galaxy is also lensed into a Chwolson ring about the lensing galaxy. Markarian 1014 is also one of the brightest quasars classified as a warm ULIRG. It is currently in a transitional phase from a typical ULIRG to an ultraviolet-excessive quasar. [5] It has an X-ray emission measured at 2-10 KeV luminosity of 10 43.80 erg s −1 when exhibiting a molecular outflow. [6]
UHZ1 is a background galaxy containing a quasar. At a redshift of approximately 10.1, UHZ1 is at a distance of 13.2 billion light-years, seen when our universe was about 3 percent of its current age.
