Ashley Emile Swearengin (née Newton; [1] born May 24, 1972) [2] [3] is an American politician who served as the 24th mayor of Fresno, California. She is Fresno's second female mayor. She was first elected in a run-off election in 2008 and was re-elected in 2012. Swearengin ran for State Controller in 2014. [4]
