Banswara District has an area of 5,037 km 2 (1,945 sq mi), which is 1.47% of Rajasthan state, India.The city of Banswara is the district headquarters. It is bounded on the north by Udaipur District, on the northeast by Pratapgarh District, on the east and southeast by Madhya Pradesh state, on the southwest by Gujarat state, and on the west by Dungarpur District.
Banswara state was about 45 mi (72 km) in length from north to south and 33 mi (53 km) in breadth from east to west and had an area of 1,606 sq mi (4,160 km 2). [8] The population in 1941 was 258,760. [9] Banswara district forms the eastern part of the region known as Vagad or Vagwar.

Silver Rupee from the princely state of Banswara, struck in the name of ruler Lakshman Singh. After the death of Rawal Udai Singh of Vagad at the Battle of Khanwa in 1527, where he fought alongside Rana Sanga against Babar, his territories were divided into the states of Dungarpur State and Banswara State.
Banswara is one of the 200 Legislative Assembly constituencies of Rajasthan state in India. [2] [3] It is part of Banswara district, and is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. As of 2023, it is represented by Arjun Singh Bamnia of the Indian National Congress party.
