Marriage License Index. Marriage Records ARE available on-line from January 3, 1995. Marriage records from 1803 through 1994 ARE available at the Probate Court. All records provided through the case search are current as of the previous day's date.
The Franklin County Probate Court issues marriage licenses to residents of Franklin County, Ohio who are planning to marry in the state of Ohio. Licenses may also be issued to out-of-state residents who plan to marry in Franklin County, Ohio.
The Court maintains records for review, copy, and certification in several formats - including hard copy original, microfilm, microfiche, electronic image - depending on the age of the document. Electronic images are available on most filings received on or after August 2, 1998.

Judge Jeffrey D. Mackey provides notice that revised Local Rules of Court for the Franklin County Probate Court will take effect on January 1, 2024. Please check the Probate Court website periodically.
If both applicants reside out of state but will marry in Ohio, their marriage license must be issued in the county where the ceremony will take place. Any applicant under the age of 18 must first obtain the consent of the Franklin County Juvenile Court.
